Millions of Americans to Receive Social Security Benefits in June 2025
More than 69 million Americans, including retirees and those living with disabilities, will receive Social Security benefits throughout June 2025, according to the latest payment schedule released by the Social Security Administration (SSA). While most recipients can expect to receive their payments on scheduled Wednesdays, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not receive a payment this month due to how the calendar aligned in May.
Here’s what you need to know about this month’s payment distribution, what to do if your check is late, and who qualifies for benefits under Social Security and SSI programs.

Why SSI Recipients Won’t Receive a June Payment
If you’re among the 7.4 million Americans who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you may notice that no payment will arrive in June. This is not a mistake. Because June 1, 2025, falls on a Sunday, the SSI payment scheduled for that day was advanced to May 30. As a result, two payments were issued in May—one for May 1 and one early for June—leaving no disbursement for June.
The next SSI payment will resume on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
What Is Supplemental Security Income (SSI)?
SSI provides financial support to Americans who are aged 65 or older, blind, or living with a qualifying disability. It’s also available to children with eligible disabilities. To qualify, applicants typically must have limited income and resources, with most adult applicants earning no more than $2,019 per month.
Applications for SSI can be submitted:
- Online via the SSA’s website
- By phone at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778)
- In person at a local Social Security office
2025 SSI Payment Dates Remaining
According to the SSA, the remaining SSI payments for 2025 will be distributed as follows:
- Tuesday, July 1: July payment
- Friday, August 1: August payment
- Friday, August 30: September payment
- Wednesday, October 1: October payment
- Friday, October 31: November payment
- Monday, December 1: December payment
- Wednesday, December 31: January 2026 payment
What to Do If You Miss a Social Security Payment
If your payment date has passed and you haven’t received your benefit, the SSA recommends waiting three additional mailing days before contacting them. Since 99% of Social Security payments are processed electronically, delays are rare. However, if your payment is still missing, contact the SSA directly at the phone number listed above or visit your local office.
Full Retirement Age in 2025: Who Qualifies This Year?
Americans can begin collecting reduced Social Security retirement benefits at age 62, but waiting until full retirement age (FRA) means receiving larger monthly checks. FRA has gradually increased over the years and is now based on your year of birth.
For 2025, individuals born between May 2, 1958, and February 28, 1959, will reach full retirement age, which is 66 years and 8–10 months. Anyone born in 1960 or later will reach full retirement age at 67.
